· 通过未来汉语教师汉语培训项目,为中文教师提供职业培训,特别是:(1)通过我们的未来汉语教师汉语培训项目帮助在职教师获取足够的学分以获得纽约州中文教师资格证。该项目主要利用暑假时间,与位于上海的华东师范大学合作。(2)在美国和中国一年举办数次培训班,培养在职和职前中文教师跨文化教学的重要技能和方法;
· 搜集美国中小学课堂中文教学最佳案例,特别是从学前班到八年级的课程, 以及
· 为促进美国学校,特别是纽约州公立学校系统内的中文教学进行政策研究和建议。

We speak to Hsin-Mei Agnes Hsu, Ph.D, Director of Education & Dean, Confucius Institute at China Institute and Huang Liping Since its founding in 1926, China Institute has been dedicated to educating the American public about Chinese culture, history and contemporary life. The Institute advances a deeper understanding of China in the belief that cross-cultural communication strengthens our global community. The education department achieves this mission through a variety of programs designed for teachers, students, and the general public of all ages.
China Institute is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York as a school of continuing education. The Institute's School of Chinese Studies, founded in 1933, is the oldest educational center of its kind in the United States.
Whatever your age or level of familiarity with Chinese language or culture, China Institutes education department will support your interest, and help you maintain a life-long engagement with China.

CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE AT CHINA INSTITUTE
In order to increase the number of qualified Chinese language teachers available to teach in American K-12 classrooms, in 2006 China Institute formed the Confucius Institute at China Institute (CI@CI).
CI@CI focuses on three primary areas:

• Pa particular emphasis on helping in-service teachers gain the credits and training needed to obtain New York State certification and also on helping pre-service and in-service teachers gain the cross-cultural skills and methodologies critical to success in teaching American youth;
• Identifying best practices in teaching Chinese in American K-12 classrooms, and
• Policy analysis and recommendations with respect to encouraging the teaching of Chinese in American schools, especially in the New York State public school system.

CI@CI and the various programs it offers are made possible through the generous support of the Hanban (officially known as the "Office of Chinese Language Council International"), with additional support from other private and public foundations.
