  • @ddenuci, Ernie had one too, though I can't remember its name.

  • @vividwatch47 I saw that episode a few months ago on MeTV. The sons and Charley even make plans to move away. One or two of them arrange to stay with Mike and Sally. That might be the only time that they are mentioned after their leaving the show, unless it was in a quick blurb that they sent word of being unable to attend the weddings of Robbie and Steve.

  • @gotch09 I see you wrote this a year ago. I just came up on the answer on either Wikipedia or IMDB. He was said to be working on a bridge construction project in Peru while Katie stayed to care for the triplets. I didn't remember that he was gone in the last season. Things were going back and forth with all the people on there.

  • @mjcamck Thanks for filling me in. And no I never got a answer until now. You're the only one who bothered to answer.

  • @gotch09 - Hello. Did you ever get an answer? Oldest son "Mike" was played by Tim Considine, a Disney child star (Spin & Marty, etc.). I read that he asked to leave the show so he could pursue other interests since acting which had occupied his childhood. Conveniently, he was old enough that marriage (to Sally aka Meredith McCrae) fitted into the script nicely. Trivia: Tim's 1st wife was Charlotte Stewart who later played School Marm Miss Eva Beadle on Little House on the Prairie. Best Wishes.

  • Contrary to popular rumour, Ernie was NOT a Chinaman.......repeat, Ernie was NOT a Chinaman.......1:31

  • @gotch09 Originally he was away for work on a bridge or something, but later was drafted into military service.

  • found it! here's the 2 story my Dad grew up in In Los Angeles! He was President of Los Angeles High and played Football! Hi Freddie!

  • @jed6271 How did Robbie disappear? I don't remember. I just remember he was there as the middle son in the beginning.

  • Can someone remind me-- who the original oldest son was, who played him, and how and why was he written out? i remember Ernie was sort of adopted wasn't he. I know he was Chips real life brother.
