From the Manhattan council of MoveOn.org - November 3, 2009: 122 people die per day because they don't have insurance or they lack access to AFFORDABLE INSURANCE. Meanwhile, a handful of Democrats in several other states are threatening to join the Republicans and block real reform from even being voted on in the Senate. At this event we are going to DRAMATIZE the daily death toll of this under-reported crime by having a "DIE-IN" that represents those 122 individuals: we will have people lying on the sidewalk, traced in chalk like a crime scene; we will hear from family members and/or friends of those who have died because of the lack of Insurance; and we will cheer on our two senators Schumer and Gillibrand to keep fighting in our behalf for health care reform with a ROBUST PUBLIC OPTION.
