Most notably with Gene Krupa and Anita O'Day. In the early days of Disney World (mid 70's) there was The Village Jazz Lounge, he and other greats including Teddy Wilson played there.

  • Thank You.

  • Thank You for the nice comments. I agree the horns in general make a good band. I go frequently to New Orleans, and small kids walk around with these instruments in their hand, and learning to play.

  • You have good taste, thanks for watching.

  • I knew Eddie ever since I was a kid, and studied drums under him. I lived just around the corner from him, and usually ran into him on the street. I was so shocked when I learned on U-Tube. I have contacted his family in Hawaii. He was a great drummer and a great person. I will miss him a lot. Thanks...

  • Yes he did pass away at his lady friends house in NJ. He was a wonderful guy and one of the best Jazz drummers. When he worked with me I always announced him as the "Great Eddie Locke On Drums" He is very much missed.

  • @jazzzguy

Are you sure that Eddie Passed away in September, OMG , He lived in my neighborhood, around the block. This is saddening.

  • Roy was such a competitive player! He played in such a firey style, with such feeling! He was my first major influence some 35 years ago. I was lucky to have met him when he played Chicago. A very patient and accomodating player. Thanks for posting this legend.

  • The rest of the band members besides Roy are Johnny Morris - Piano, Joe Muryani - Clarinet, Bobby Pratt - Trombone, Ted Sturgis - Bass and Eddie Locke - Drums. Johnny and Joe are still alive but Eddie passed away this past September in fact his memorial service is this coming Sunday in NYC at St. Peters Church under the direction of pianist Barry Harris.
