@dannyboyyy1000 The reason, imo, that he killed the dog was because Rosco killed another dog in a dogfight. Rosco was a killer after that point, it was in some ways euthanasia. I suppose you could see it as a metaphor for children who grow up into violence and murder. After you kill, are you ever the same again? It's like a part of you dies.
I felt really bad, it was difficult to watch, so I'm only speaking in cinematic terms here.

Does anyone recall the scene when Fresh had purposely hung Rosco (the pitbull) from the fire escape ladder, and then shot him a few times while the poor mutt was dangling from the ladder? I know towards the end of the movie, Fresh now wants to disconnect himself from the drug-dealing crowd, and free his sister from her abusive boyfriend. But was killing the dog apart of his process of leaving the street drug-dealing life??
