The Birds-Mouth joint on our German Barn Rafters is shaped by Tim using our Makita 16" Circular Saw. A very difficult cut with a 35 pound saw.

  • You know, if you cut down, the weight of the saw will help you out and your cuts will be more accurate.

  • It's much easier to cut down, so you're working with the weight of the saw instead of against it.

Timber framers do these drop cuts all the time.

  • It looks scary but that saw is powered just right not to kick the shit out of you.

  • that saw is a accident waiting to happen :/

  • Ouch can you imagine if you dropped that on your lap :(

  • WE!!! SWET!
