Charity Match Torino Simbolo 2 - River Plate 2

Comunale stadium, Turin, Italy, May 26, 1949
(Nyers, Labruna, Di Stefano, Annovazzi)

after the Superga air crash tragedy on may 4, 1949, when the legendary record setting Grande Torino soccer team (who was also basically the Italy National Team of the era, providing up to 10 starters to the Azzurri) all died at their peak leaving no survivors, the famous argentine team River Plate offered to come to play a charity match to raise money for the families of the victims, and despite being on a race to win the argentine league they still sent their stellar starting lineup to Italy and in Turin they played vs. an italian Serie A league selection of the remaining best players wearing Torino uniforms and called Torino Simbolo

and since this noble gesture Toro and River has become brothers, a bond that will never be broken, with both teams that usually wears an away shirt that reminds each others colours

  • Soy argentino. Fanatico de River. Forza Toro en Italia!!!!!! Juve y boca merda!

  • corinthians brazil make new kit in tribute to torino

  • @WhitteHero Actually, I'm an English teacher, so basically... yep, I could be your teacher. And, I tell you, I'm right, you're wrong: "from river" is gramatically incorrect. On the other hand, "River fan" would be the correct way to express what you meant.

About that Cindor... I'm not so sure about that, I'm starting to feel that you're the one with the lack of it, dontcha think?

Now let me check your spelling and your English in general n' I'll tell you either if I can be your teacher or not.

  • TORO ETERNO AMORE! Forza RIVER PLATE!
