In this short videoclip I'm playing doublestrokes on the bassdrum. It's in slowmotion, so you can see the heel-toe technique. Enjoy...

  • my opinion is that wearing of shoes while demostrating is the proper way because you do not wear socks while playing especially in the open with audience. just a suggestion. keep up the good work. more power to you.....

  • I always play without shoes, even on stage.

  • what pedal may I ask? looks almost like a TAYE pedal or a Tama

  • it's a Tama Iron Cobra pedal

  • Nice video, I am trying to learn and control this technique!

I have a question, when you do the double stroke very fast, you seem to rotate your ankle a bit, or is it optical illusion because of the camera angle?

  • thanks...

Yes, I do a little rotation of the foot. Also there is some sort of waving motion of my foot. That's why I'm playing without shoes.

  • whats wrong with playing without ur shoes on, imo its more comfortable

  • @Gruefundalles This video is just a demonstration of technique, so it doesn't really matter. If you're playing that fast with a swivel technique, standard footwork or heel-toe, you'll choke it on one bass drum head; the only way it won't choke is to play it on two bass drums.

  • I have an iron cobra am having a hard time heel toing with my left foot. I do it with my right all the time but it takes alot of effort with the left. I cant even oncorporate the left into my playing aswell.

  • its okay to play with or without shoe.. but mind others in your band, they smell it.

  • how have you set the springs?

  • how have you set the springs? the left one?

  • are iron cobras really that good?

  • what do you think about playing with heel down, and play slow.

  • Nice technique Man..., You must have

put in a lot of practice hours to get your

toes, to the ball of the foot and then heel method into one continuous motion......

    Props to you bro!
