Damita Jo flopped commercially and critically because it was released on the heels of her Superbowl disaster. Her DJ singles were virtually ignored by many radio stations, and MTV refused to air her music videos (although vh1, mtv jams etc did air them). And the album DID go platinum, and it did sell well, just not as well as her others, so that's why it's considered a flop. Critic's unfairly judged the album and it's sexual content based on the Superbowl debacle.

@steviej Totally agree and thats because I listened to each track again and again one after the other I really really enjoyed then entire CD but I must admit I was surprised that more JJ fans didn't buy. Nevertheless, she is and will always be in that part of my heart where only my favorite artists are permitted. Artists like: Whitney, S. Wonder, Isleys, Natalie, Aretha, Chaka, EWF. J. Brown, Delfonics, Stairsteps, M. Wells and the Marvelettes. Old School yes but they all paved the way!

Yes Damita Jo was on Point........ From Start. It's a conspriracy that it didn't do better. Even my frineds love this song and thinking bout my ex. It's like this album was and still is the Shit.

@figaromagniffico i dont see how they bash this album , its only her second album and it went platinum in 2 countries lol so no one can talk, so many singles on the album too, i wuld say she chose the wrong singles tho lol but hey.....still one ofthe best R&B albums along with confessions and futuresex/lovesounds and dangerously in love etc etc

I love this song... I love her voice on here... the great thing about Janet is that she never gives you the same vocal style or arrangement... I still play this cd its in my top 3 favorite Janet cds"
