Elvis Presley Shes Not You
Written by Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller, and Doc Pomus, and it was their first collaberation. Elvis recorded it March 19, 1962 at RCAs Nashville studios. The single release had a 10-week stay on Billboards Hot 100 chart, reaching #5. It was #13 on the Rhythm & Blues chart and #2 on the Easy-Listening chart. It was #1 in England for three weeks. It was a million seller, and it was the A-side to Just Tell Her Jim Said Hello. It is available on Elvis Golden Records Vol. 3, Elvis: Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits, Vol. 1, The Top Ten Hits, The 50 Greatest Love Songs, Pot Luck With Elvis, Heart and Soul, Elvis 30 #1 Hits, From Nashville to Memphis-The Essential 60s Masters, and Artist of the Century, which is where this version is from.

Her hair is soft and her eyes are oh so blue
She's all the things a girl should be,
but she's not you.

She knows just how to make me laugh when I feel blue
She's everything a man could want,
but she's not you.

And when we're dancing
It almost feels the same
I've got to stop myself from
Whispering your name

She even kisses me like you used to do.
And it's just breaking my heart
'cause she's not you

And it's just breaking my heart
'cause she's not you

And when we're dancing
It almost feels the same
I've got to stop myself from
Whispering your name

She even kisses me like you used to do.
And it's just breaking my heart
'cause she's not you
And it's just breaking my heart
'cause she's not you

  • when your 67 year old neighbour starts shouting at you to turn the music down my reply was: well i'm sorry. you try living as a teenager now with all the crappy music about, you didn't have to you had these legends. your the lucky one. . .

  • I remember this great song with much fondness. I was 10 years old when it came out in the summer of 1962. 165 people have no musical taste whatsoever or have ticked the wrong box carelessly.

  • Born in the late 40's....grew up when Elvis was the King! Even after death, he's still the King.

  • I cannot think of anyone in the entertainment industry that was as sexy or as good looking as Elvis. Except maybe Ann-Margret or Marilyn Monroe.
