Finally brought her in for dyno tuning. I just wanted a conservative tune that was safe across all RPM ranges. A few months later I found out the fuel pump filter was clogged up. When the filter was changed, the tune from this dyno session ended up being way too rich. So I think another 20 whp would be easy to get out of the car without any other changes. BTW the greddy turbo doesn't flow enough air for the engine (this turbo kit was designed for 6 psi boost, and I'm running it almost twice that). Assuming there is a 15-20% drivetrain loss on the rx-8, that puts me at 312 - 326 hp with a very conservative tune with that clogged fuel pump. Car is running with standard 93 gas. • what kind of tailights are those????????????

  • @ScottRaulston They're OEM lights.

  • I'm not saying you're lying or anything, I'm just saying that maybe you mistyped some of your posts or worded them wrong and might confuse people who don't know much about the rotary engine or RX8's in general. Sounds nice though even with a stock cat though, Looks good.

  • @cks796 "Stock greddy turbo" means the stock turbo that comes with the greddy kit. Nothing ambiguous about that. There are a half dozen upgrades to the greddy kit. I like the 3071R that MM makes. The description of "stock" is to show it's using the crappy tiny snail that comes with that kit - which only works up to 6 psi. Any higher and it's going to drop off fast once you get to the higher rpm due to the design of the kit only being good for 6 psi.

  • Just a few mistypes in your comment boxes on the video or I read them wrong. You said that it came "stock" with a Greddy Turbo. RX8's are Renesis motors and are N/A. They do not come stock with a Turbo from Mazda. Also, you say the "high power" RX8's come stock with 232hp "at the crank". Mazda made only one size motor that I know of for the RX8 during the first generation designs and that was the 1.3 liter Rotary Engine. That and RX8's don't have "Cranks" because the motor isn't a piston engine.

  • @cks796 You are wrong on all counts. No one is suggesting that the greddy turbo came stock on the RX-8. You also don't understand that Mazda made several configurations of the engine. There is a 4 port, and a 6 port renesis. Crank horse power is describing power the engine produces without drive train loss.

  • The reason the motor didn't move is because 215 pounds of torque is crap. Rx8s are over rated, and nowhere close to a wankle. Nice looking car though.

  • Bov sounds incredible!!! sex to the ears

  • love that bov sound!, what is it!? =O

  • i guess cars dont have variable geometry turbo like big rig in usa have !maybe in the futur!do rotary have rail direct injection like big rig have?wondering cause in the past this was an issue

  • @cks796 do you even know how an engine works, rotary or piston? lol

  • @1465225568 id imagine about 11mpg.. i could be wrong tho

  • @tyrannical I thought that was break horse power? o_O I'm not a car person.
