  • It is not exactly like this. The most important for preparing an original tostones is that you are supposed to smash the platano with your hands. This gives the real shape of the tostones. The way you smash 'em it is not right, because you cannot feel how strong are you doin' it.

  • I appreciate your comment, but this is how my Dominican family makes them, they smash them with el pilón. :)

  • I mash mine with my hands, but there's no wrong way. Puerto Ricans typically smash them with our hands or use a tostonera at most.

  • I eat my tostones like chips because when theyre really crispy they taste almost like potato chips.. I love them especially when I eat them with arroz con gandules.
