This is a tutorial of how to draw Benedict Cumberbatch.
It is a picture of him from the BBC serie "Sherlock".
I hope this will help you out a bit.
- Allways go for a light sketch first, using F pencil, and use a "stump" to mark shadows.
- When you are pleased, you can use softer pencils, like 3B.
- It often helps you out to look at your drawing in a mirror - it can reveal mistakes in your drawing. It should look allright in the mirror, if you find a mistake, no big deal. Just fix it, okay? =)
- Use 7B to capture Benedicts dark hair. Keep highlights on some of his curls. His curls are veeery important ;D
- Make sure to keep highlight from the beginning to the end of your process. Though you could allways strengthen highlight with a rubber. If the rubber doesn't help you as you please, you can use white acrylic.

I think the most important thing about drawing a portrait is to capture the unique features of the person in it. The hair, cheekbones and the lips are the most characterised features of Benedict Cumberbatch in the serie.
If you have any questions, please let me know and write a comment! =D
Good luck!!
