Major Boston Accident. Car Explodes!

Caught this video today right after I was walking out the coffee shop. I turned my cell's camera on as quickly as I could. The explosion happened about 9 seconds before the video begins, and the fire still rages, at times getting higher than the surrounding buildings. This video was used on the nightly news, it was the only vid sent in to them. There were 3 cars involved, and all nine people in them were injured. An older man died at the scene, the guy in the red van who hit the second car, which in turn hit the third car making it turn on its side and leap into the air like it was in some kind of action movie. Wish I had captured that part too. This clip starts a few seconds after it happens, and ends right after they remove the woman from the flaming vehicle. She managed to somehow survive. All in all, it was a stunning experience, and, considering the many stories of apathy I read about lately, I was amazed to see so many people get together to try and help. Not sure if a lot of you get to see this, but I thought I should load it here anyways.

This occurred on Harvard Ave. in Brookline, right outside of Boston.

It was directly in front of the Gap. I guess it was closer to Babcock St. than I remember it being.

For there being so many witnesses present, there is still a lot of confusion about what happened. I just read a report claiming that the vehicle which was on fire had flipped over several times, which is untrue. It went into the air and then hit the ground on its side, but it never made any complete rotations, let alone several.

Hey A1 there is a reason for that. One ambulance is on Harvard Street to help extricate the woman trapped. As this was a Mass Casualty Incident the remaining ambulances staged on the next street over. Patients were triaged and then moved to a treatment area (an alley between the two streets) prior to being loaded into the waiting ambulances. Common sense says that we would not want to put the ambulances in the middle of that scene to become contaminated with smoke or blocked by other apparatus

i didnt see a single paramedic there, i saw lots of firemen tending the victims and putting the fire out but no paramedics.

I had the awesome and humbling pleasure of meeting and sitting with this woman - who had been in the car - recently. I felt like I had met a miracle. She is wonderful, still healing, doing well. Do keep her in your prayers, please, and in your positive thoughts. She is a deep inspiration to me.
