Haha I love Ned's commentary here. "BAM!....Hit him again!" One of my favorite people in NASCAR and so deservng of his Hall enshrinement.
Even though Michael hadn't won a points-race at this point, people like him and Lake (with one win) and winless guys like Ted Musgrave and Dick Trickle and what have you were still "big names" of sorts. That was the culture in the '90s and I guess even moreso prior to that.

@ShotgunDolphin You are wrong Shotgun. Michael was famous long before that, he'd just not won a points race in Cup before that. He'd won plenty of Nationwide races and the 1996 Winston (aka All Star Race) He took single car teams, ran the best he could with what little he had and did well. Didn't win, but did well for the crap he raced in.

@EricEbac22 Lake was blocking while being a lapped car, and not long before the end of the race, he ran Michael into the wall while blocking him. Michael is a very patient person, rarely ever retaliates, let alone goes after someone and hits him. Lake REALLY pissed him off.

@WillG75 You obviously don't know why Michael punched him. Just because a person is a good man one minute doesn't mean he can't push someone's buttons enough to make them do what Michael did. Michael is an extremely paitent person. It takes alot to make him retaliate, let alone punch someone. Think for once about what did Lake do to make Michael so mad
