Wait wait wait, my bad. The Valkyries ARE the shuttles. The starship called the VENTURESTAR stays in space. The shuttles probably used fusion rockets, which would account for the low mass ratio. However, they could also probably pump air around the hot parts to cool it off and add to the thrust, which would allow it to ALSO function as a jet.

@j363j No, I say if our redesigned mig115 for tourism that has long would all fly into space with no problems, scoring bolt "means a devil-may-care attitude" "mig115 this orbital fighter" "but mig115 forgotten"
