Glen actually very rarely uses General's pencil (and if he does, it would be the softest not HB). He mainly demonstrates with Wolff's 4 and 6B pencils.
Glen uses a General's Charcoal Pencil - 2B (Medium). He also uses SMOOTH Newsprint, which helps the charcoal flow smoothly onto the paper. Most newprints pads are Rough texture and the uneven surface creates an uneven, spotty effect.
Are you using a charcoal pencil that's cut off at the end? If so, what brand? I'm using general's charcoal and its a bit rough, so why does yours apply so smoothly? Also, fantastic classes! Hope I can sign up!
