I am in a human diversity class right now and I find your perspective refreshing. It seems to me that most diversity initiatives want to segregate us into small factions and teach us to tolerate each other. What I hear from you is that we are one faction of composed of different beliefs and experiences. I believe cosmopolitanism is the solution to oppression in our country.

As Pr. Appiah's says, "cosmo" is of grec origins, more precisely it was first used by Pytagoras to name the harmonious arrangement of numbers, I believe.

Today, most of us are intimitaly associated with numbers ( social ID, banking Id, customer ID...) . I understand "cosmopolitanism" as a society were our respective ID numbers, will harmoniously interacted with the other 7 bilions (or infinite numbers.

We have a model. The natural numbers of Pytagoras.

It is the golden rule to live by :). Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
