I was fortunate to advance past the preliminary round robin in the 2008 Sang Lee International Open and have the opportunity to compete against one of my 3-cushion player-idols, the legendary Torbjorn Blomdahl of Sweden. This was the second time for me to encounter him in a tournament competition but the first time on a filmed match (CaromTV.com web TV table). I came out of the gate fairly strong as Blomdahl struggled slightly during his first few innings... rare moments in billiard history.
For reasons of pure self-interest, I only post the first part of the match ;)
The entire match which includes tremendous runs by Blomdahl (what else is new) and amazing shots (
e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u5XIsaeYFE ) can be found on CaromTV.com under Video Library (match CC108-13).
Little did I know that my two player friends Jan Carl and Min Jae Pak were teasing me from the commentators box the whole time - thankfully, from a soundproof booth.
