Here's a short lesson on one the key tunes in the Gypsy Jazz repertoire: "I Can't Give You Anything But Love"

Notation, tab, chord diagrams and backing track all available (for free!) on the "lessons" page of my website: http://timrobinsonguitar.com/

Backing track for the solo thanks to http://stephanewrembel.com/

  • Hi sir - I really enjoyed this, could I ask at the very beginning, what are the chords to the into? Cheers

  • Tim:

Enjoying your lessons. Very helpful. I hope you keep them coming. Got a chuckle out of the facial expression at the end of "I Can't Give You Anything But Love." Eventually, I wonder if you would consider a lesson on how to move away from the arpeggio exercises, which I realize are crucial, to making music. Or maybe that just comes as a natrual extension of the practices. Thanks!

  • @ezelkins Thanks! Will bear it in mind for future lessons. Tim

  • Tim, what mic & interface are you using to record these videos? (for the gypsy guitar, and the Laney amp)

BTW, Great playing and lessons. I've personally benefited quite a bit from them. I've been playing your etudes, and that's how I finally started to sound somewhat like a GJ player...

  • @oylebiseyyok Thanks, I'm pleased the lessons are useful! I am using a Groove Tubes GT33 mic, into an Apogee Duet.

  • Thé best video to learn jazz with good methodology thanks

  • @Tim - I love your arrangement of this classic! I never get tired of this song. I'm tempted to ask about the tomatoes and cucumbers but will keep on topic. :D

    1. What guitar are you using in this video?

  • @thrip Thnx Tim :0)

  • @Dames12345 It's an E9 with a B in the bass :)

  • Hi Tim , liking all you new stuff by the way , but back to this one.

The turn around you do at 1.40 is slightly different to the begining bit and I can't quite pick out the 2nd chord your playing. Is it Bm6 or E9 or something else?

    Cheers Dames :0)
