  • Yes, with correct management iit can be quite profitable . Income is only generated during the snail season Oct - May so it's a farming activity that can enhance other activities. The domestic market in Australia is still under supplied with quality fresh snails and there is greater return than export. Live snails cannot be exported or imported from or to Australia ..

  • Hello, I would like to know what kind of snails are these in the plastic white boxes? (are they the main ones or the babies?) And how do you feed them in the boxes? Do you feed them with liquid food? Do you have a site or an e-mail? Im from Brasil, and we have the perfect situation here for the scargots, and thinking about the idea..Thanks!

Cna't seem to reply to your answer...you can email me on snailfarming.info@gmail.com

  • please l want to have a snail farm. l want you to tell me the name of the leave that is planted in between the rows in this farm, how to feed them and how many months it takes to mature for harvest..

  • @choice308 The leaves are spinach (silver beet) forage brassica, hybrid turnips, plantain, some clover. The snails live in these leaves and eat them too. It takes from three months for spring hatched snails and around 9 months for autumn hatched snails to reach harvestable size.

  • what type of snails you have in your farm?

  • @fakernigerelefant

The snails are Cantareus aspersus (formally Helix aspersa) or the common brown garden snail.

Why are snail eggs disgusting? You eat caviar, right? It's pretty much the same. Or do you find that disgusting as well? If so, you're missing out on the whole world of delicacies. Snail is not any more slimy than a pike, yet it gest different treatment.

  • why do the snails have to be eaten!? poor snails.............

  • Okay and why to you eat snails and their eggs? Sound discusting. Still cant tell till I try.

  • I was watching bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmern. And he ate snail eggs. They were cured like caviar and sold for top dollar.

  • Is this a profitable industry? Is the market for snails overseas rather than domestic?
