Bye bye birdy

So my neighbor went on vacation and ive been dog sitting. the bird got out of the cage and i caught it and put it back. i didnt even know the bird had been home. so the next day i get home and the bird is dead. my gf told me the neighbor said to just throw it away. i was like wtf? so thats what i did. just chucked it. i gey thats what they mean by kicking the can.
