This is my favorite hike. It is in the canyon behind Rose Hills Cemetery, where the oil rig is. The trail-head is next to the Rangers house. It's another way to get to the Water Tower. I filmed this on August 8, 2010. On my way back to the Trail-head, at 9 am i came face to face with a Bobcat. It was under some trees about to go into the ravine where the creek is. It turned back and we stared at each other till I started reaching for my camera phone, then it went down to the creek. The spot where i saw the Bobcat is a 10 minute walk from the trail-head. I should have known there was a predator in the area because the jack rabbits didn't flee as soon as they saw me. They let me pass very close to them that I noticed they seemed actually apprehensive about hopping into the brush. May I recommend that you stop by Chemas Tacos for the best Tacos in town and for the best BOBA Tea in Whittier go to Scotty's flower and gifts at 10250 Colima Rd, you will thank me later. No MTN bikes or pets are allowed on this trail.
