was it possible to beat this game, my brother and I played this game for hours a day for about a year straight and neither of us could beat it, we only assumed that we were very close to what was an ending.

There was this one "cheat" you could use to win it, and it was this:

Wait at the finish line before the AI(grey car) comes right at you, then finish. If you finish really far ahead, the grey AI will most likely go mad and drive like Chuck Norris, and roundhouse kick your ass.

With that, it's quite easy to actually win at this game. This worked for me on DOS version, back in the day I still had a PC with windows 3.1 on it :D
