What a shame the Crowes never used any of Marcs' writing skills. The man writes some nice tunes. A crime they didn't use him to their full advantage. Were the brothers afraid his songs would be favored by some? Huge dumbass ego move on that one.
Marc Ford was being wined and dined by Guns and Roses when Izzy Stradlin left Guns and Roses, so the bozo down below who acts like Ford wouldn't have been discovered without his time in the Black Crowes is clueless. Ford felt the Black Crowes had more room for him to grow, and less ego. He was correct, for a while anyway. But, make no mistake, his guitar playing was going to end up in someone's band, it just happened to be to the Crowes gain. And Marc's. No point in thinking Ford got lucky.
@ElHeffay1974 Actually, it's always been Chris' band, if you want to get technical. And a lot of folks forget that MF left behind a great band in Burning Tree to join the BC's, at Chris' request. To the point, trying to compare to 2 is pointless- they are truly apples and oranges, but my point stands- those artists aren't hiring Rich.
@bkfindlay And honestly, Marc Ford should consider himself lucky being hired by Ben Harper, Booker T, Lucinda Williams, etc.....all because he played for Rich Robinson's band. While Rich Robinson might not have played for a lot of people like Marc has, the opportunities were presented to Marc because of playing for a band called The Black Crowes.
You're entitled to be shortsighted if you'd like, but Rich Robinson never got hired by Ben Harper, Booker T., Lucinda Williams, and dozens of other people as well. Look at the big picture. If you don't like his stuff, that's your right, but he's got a great thing going on with his productions and performances.

Begining to think that Fords a natural predecessor to Billy G. when it comes to
pure tone. He's always been nothing short of sweet.
