@MyLilPookieBear At one time, the AAP also stated smoking up to four cigarettes a day was acceptable, and that it was recommended babies sleep on their stomachs. Even the AAP is vague about the extent of their findings. In fact, their statements is thru toddlerhood but doesn't address an 8 YEAR OLD 3rd GRADER. And I would absolutely challenge that if all 60k pediatricians were polled, the vast majority would agree that an 8 year old is far too old to still be breastfeeding.

@jennh911 Also, I've given you information from the American Academy of Pediatrics, who has a membership of over 60,000 pediatricians. Assuming that at least 1% of these good doctors are also parents, I have just given you 600 parents who support extended breastfeeding. Is that good enough? Or did you want a sample from uneducated, ignorant parents? Again, I'll side with the educated folks!
