To awesomekiddo: I can tell you are a bad tennis player.....or perhaps not a player at all. The beautiful sport teaches self-discipline, self-confidence, and helps you stay friendly, healthy, happy, and fit....when you get tired of losing, try some of Brad's techniques, and you will enjoy the game (and life) much more. Bevanne 12 has a good point. You don't need tremendous topspin to win at the any level (Santoro and Stepanek ?) Boring tennis is one-dimensional, whether all topsin or push

It is true that many other players have had great mental games and good strategies, but Brad reached #4 in the world and won almost 600 matches (more than Borg or Willander), beating all the great players of his time except Lendl. He has more than enough credentials as a player (never mind a coach) to bill himself as one of the great mental warriors on court. Anyone who plays this game realizes that the most fulfilling part of the game is the part where you learn ways to win mentally.

Hans, you don't get it.....Brad did not use "Dirty" tactics. He played fair and square, but he maximized a relatively weak physical game, without much power, with mental focus, study of the opponents, and clever strategies. The point of the book is to show you how you can do the same thing.

Gilberts Winning Ugly isnt something he invented or thought off first.Players have always used dirty tactics Lendl did Becker did McMenroe did. There is nothing special about it. The only diefference is that Gilbert was the first guy to write about in a book. Lets face it: what else could he write about? His glourious career? While Legends like Mac and Becker write about their victories Gilbert only could write about winning ugly. This book could have written anybody had few victories over legends

this is a freaking ridiculous statement. you need fast racket acceleration for topspin. amateurs want to play an exciting game with fast-paced and hard hitting tennis, not boring ass stupid fucking pushing shit. brad gilbert is only good for his commentary
