These types of instruments are called Orchestrions. Pat Metheny is making an album with specially made orchestrions, and will also tour with them in 2010.

It was shown and explained on Discovery Chanell in the episode about Music..But I'm not really sure of the show's name, it was the one about history of inventions when they tell how something evolved from begginings till modern days.

I like the Utrecht's Model A violina better then the Model B, I can't say why, but I do.
