  • The video is from a documentary called "Memory and Imagination" by Michael Lawrence Films. You can find a high-res Quicktime version of this fragment and can purchase the DVD from their website on mlfilms:dot:com

  • thanks alot for that information!

  • By the way, the PBS series you refer to is called "Triumph of the Nerds", but it does not contain this fragment.

  • yeah thats the name. this must not have been from it then i thought it was.

  • is the video longer than this? If so where can I see it?

I don't have iTunes on my Windows installations, simply because Apple has made the Windows versions horrible. I do have quicktime, because it is required for NLE apps, like AVID.

I really couldn't care less about how the OS looks, I use Windows with the classic theme, so I can use more of my RAM. By default, Aero looks pretty nice though.

  • @gorillasocks Okay, you can think Windows 7 is a great OS if you want. Everybody has an opinion. As for me, I prefer being able to use iTunes And Quicktime and having an interface that doesn't look like it was designed by an industrial welder. Also, I have been using Macintosh computers personally and professionally (in my former profession) since 1989 and they have always worked fine for me. I have no idea why you might have a problems with them.

Also, I'd like to point out that I've had Mac workstations crash on me far more than PC workstations. I've had a lot grey screens of death and kernel panics (on a genuine Mac Pro, not my hackintosh)

In fact, I've only had one blue screen in two years of Windows 7, and that was from a faulty disc drive in my PC. Simple fix.

Windows 7 is a great OS, I have my XPS laptop dual booting Snow Leopard and Win7.

Honestly, I prefer Windows, but I use OS X extensively for video and graphic work, due to it's exclusive apps.

If you maintain Windows correctly (disabling startup processes, such as itunes and quicktime), clear your registry, and delete unnecessary temp files, it is a great OS.

  • @gorillasocks Unfortunately, at my job I am required to use computers that are running Microslop Windoze. And did you know that PC stands for Piece of Crap?

Obviously, you've never used a nice PC with windows 7 loaded on it.

Yes, your $300 1.2ghz Pentium M Compaq with 128mb of RAM is a piece of shit compared to a $2000 Macbook Pro. But a $2000 PC is also nice, and probably more powerful than the Mac.

  • It pains me to use my apple products now. R.I.P. Thank you, Steve, for changing the entire world.
