  • I actually thought she was mentally retarded at the beginning of this song. I mean no insult, she jsut sounds awful in this song, like something is wrong with her.

  • I love this rendition! I found the musical version to be a bit boring but she made it awesome and jazzy and I prefer her voice to some high pitched wailing anyday

  • Even Annie Lennox can have a bad day...she´s singing as though she has stomach cramps....

  • @LindsayOfSaturn That's a rude thing to say. Everyone has a different voice and style, if we all sounded the same the world would be boring. Lets see you sing it sister.

  • I think it's a brilliant performance by a pro at her peak....some of you guys took a stupid pill

  • annie can sing but this is bloody awful think she was on the drink

  • Great. Great. She found that way to sing it.

  • always loved annie great version

  • I absolutely LOVE Annie Lennox. I have a collection of B-Sides, rarities, and bootleg stuff that any Lennox fan would die for. BUT, when she can't sing it, she can't sing it. This doesn't even HAVE to be compared to any other version; she just did not have the high regsiter for this tune. Her baritone is splendid, her enthusiasm admirable, even her adopted folksy-Southern enunciation is cute - BUT - I'm sure I'm not the only one who cringed when she went flat on the high notes. Bummer.

  • It wasn't bad. She sang it as a jazz song. There was no intention to do it a la Showboat. The best version is Helen Morgan. She did the original Julie on Broadway and the 1936 film version but Annie can still take a bow for this performance.

  • very ugly performance, horrific! poor her, she figures it, already!
