This is a tutorial on how to install the Homebrew Channel on your 4.3u Wii by soft-modding using the Smashstack method. This will require the ORIGINAL Super Smash Bros Brawl game disk and an either 1gb or 2gb SD card formatted to the FAT32 file system. You will need to download the following files to copy them to your formatted SD card:

The Smashstack (US version) files:
http://www.wiibrew.org/w/images/4/4e/Smashstack.zip

Hackmii files:
http://dl.qj.net/down/hackmii-installer-v07.html

After you download these files, you need to copy ONLY the "private" folder from the Smashstack, and the "boot.elf" file from the Hackmii to your FAT32 formatted SD card. DO NOT copy the entire downloaded files to the card.

All directions are in the video, feel free to pause anytime you need to catch up.
Make sure you dis-connect all devices from your Wii before you proceed, gamecube controllers, usb accessories, etc.

THIS WAS DONE ON SYSTEM MENU 4.3U
I've updated every console that I've modded to the 4.3u Wii system menu (United States version) before soft-modding and recommend you do the same. Some steps of this soft-mod may work with other versions but some may not. Be sure to follow the instructions as accurately as possible to ensure no accidents or mistakes. Taking short-cuts or mixing instructions from one source with instructions from another source is always a bad idea and can lead to huge problems. Once you start modding or altering your device, you should stick with the original tutorial.

On my channel, you can find the other steps needed to complete the soft-modding procedure like: backing up your Wii's nand, installing Priiloader for extra protection, restoring the trucha bug, patching ios's and adding cios's to prepare your Wii for USB loaders such as WiiFlow or USBloader GX. I'll add more videos covering how to add Nintendo, Atari, and Sega emulators, Media streaming apps, and how to add channels to your home screen...etc as time goes by so don't forget to subscribe to the channel.

  • @TheWiickedness when you copy the hackmii file, do i just copy only the .elf file thats in there.

  • @Deon016

Yes, you only need the boot.elf file from the hackmii download.

  • @TheWiickedness If they ever make another update to the Wii will I still be able to use this method because it's going to be a while until I get a wii?

  • @Deon016

That's hard to guess, It depends on what they change in the update.

  • You say US alot. but will this work with EU version?

  • @Bakb0ne You'll need to use another hack for the US version.
