@baronvonzoom You seem to be annoyed that this guy was the first to fly over the English channel with an aircraft he had designed and built (not the 'contraption' you noticed, which was an earlier design)
You have to remember that aircraft design was in its infancy back then, thus you should show a bit of respect for what these men designed, even if it is looks 'doubtful' by today's standards.
When you will have designed and make work something worth of mention, please let us know.

What was that contraption on floats at 45 seconds into this post? Did it actually fly? The wing desighn looks doubtfull at best, and how would those floats have enough boyancy for the aircraft?
