Some slightly 'fiesty' Stedman Triples on this lovely-sounding eight. Back five are by George Oldfield, the 3rd Gillett & Johnston and the trebles by Taylors. I think they would make a superb eight with a bit of work to the acoustics and the clappering - currently they are a little challenging to strike. From the ringing weekend 30th Sep-2nd Oct 2011 - look at that stunning weather!!

  • Hotchpotch?

  • @irkibby well they are a bit, Taylors, Oldfield, Gilletts... but they are, to borrow your favourite word, spanking. Buggers to strike though!

  • @timmeh1507 I'd call 8 bells by 6 different a Hotchpotch but there we are. Whatton are seriously acoustically challenged in the ringing chamber, was glad i made the effort to go outside. I made a video of them too but didn't put it up as the ringing was a bit poor. I also smacked the sanctus bell in the ringing chamber which took a few people by surprise...

  • @irkibby I will sleep on the definition of hotchpotch and consider revising it later when I do the details properly. I'd have liked to spend more time on these but we got stuck in traffic around the building of the new A46 which is currently rather chaotic.

  • @KDowner94 Fair enough, and I was joking!! No real methods I don't like as of yet, unless you put one too many bobs in Bob Triples, which makes it go and stay unmusical!!

  • @simonbellringer I dont care whats being rung - just to find out what the bells sound like!

  • @KDowner94 You dont like Stedman but you still watch videos of it?!?! But you are right about the tenor, it is a lovely bell!!

  • the tenor has superb hum!!!

  • (<3 Henry Oldfield II)
