A work of genius, to integrate all of these sounds, in a gentler and forgiving time

Some very clever use of sound here - hearing about this on a film programme (The Story of Film) inspired me to use an idea in a college project.

Rouben Mamoulian first directed this kind "symphony of sounds" with his stage version of "Porgy" (1927). He repeated it for "Love Me Tonight" and again with his stage version of "Porgy and Bess" (1935), George Gershwin's musical version of "Porgy."
