Snow is a rare occurrence in the desert southwest especially at 3,500 feet (1067 meters). Also rare was that it was in the month of March. The Superstitions are about 5,000 feet high(~1500 m) and the Mazatzals (MAH-zaht-ZAL), which Four Peaks is a part of, have a max height of 7,903 feet(2409 m) with Four Peaks having the highest summit, Brown's Peak, in Maricopa county at 7,657 feet(2334 m). Four Peaks and the Superstitions can easily be seen from the East Valley of the Phoenix Metropolitan area in Arizona.
