Pencil test fragments from tv special Frosty The Snowman. In traditional animation pencil tests were made by filming the animator's pencil drawings before they were colored to allow the animator and the director to check the accuracy of the movement and acting of the scene. After approval of the pencil test version by the director the scene would move on to the Ink & Paint dept. to be inked onto cels and painted with the final colors.
