www.drsophiayin.com presents a video by Sophia Yin showing appropriate dog play. In general when dogs are playing well there should be many natural pauses i.e. one dog will either lay down, roll over, or suddenly freeze. If this doesn't occur once a minute or more then the play is probably not safe. Here, Jonesy and Ryder frequently pause throughout their play, both dogs are relaxed, and I am able to call Jonesy away.

  • Great example with the two sizes...I find people tend to panic when they see my 40lb and my 15lb dog play, even though its apropriate :)
