@Junkfishr Usually people would be offended by racial slurs and "ugly monkey" can be considered a racial slur which would make it more offensive than common swear words. The "value" of swear words become less severe the more a person uses it. If you have ever known someone who swears a lot compared the a person who swears only when they are really angry, you can examine the differences in how the words are being used. This can also account for the increased offensive nature of the racial slur.
