Hi there!! Well I didn't really teach him, he's pretty laid back with that kind of stuff. But just to make sure I began ust sliding off his side bareback a few times. Then sliding off further towards his tail. Since he wasn't worries me doing any of that, I slid off the back. Don't do it if your horse is a bit spooky or nervous though! Work up to it slowly if they are. Good luck!! :D

Hey, thanks. Cantering is easier than trotting because it's smoother. Jumping requires more balance and skill which is why I think it's best to learn how to trot in every way - with and without stirrups, with and without a saddle etc. That's how you're going to build up your strength and balance to jump.
Bought my pony when I was 12. That's after 6 years of riding lessons, leasing a pony and helping out at stables. More experience, the better you will be when you get a pony

Yeah, a thin rope. Or you can use a lead rope, anything to apply pressure really. :)

cool, and is it just a rope around his neck?

It's natural horsemanship - Parelli is the guy who got famous doing it. But I didn't learn from his techniques. :)

Take it slow, keep soft, calm and train to use the least amount of cues possible - check out some natural horsemanship vids.
