So I decided to continue cutting with what I had left of my stand. The stand doesn't hold up though as my last cut broke the remaining tip of the stand and sent the target flying.
Roll like you would with tatami. I can't suggest how many bundles of newspaper to roll as every city's newspaper is different in size (pages). I use 4 bundles with this.
Roll, tie and soak. I find that if you soak till their soaked through and through its easy as pie to cut... but will still show a bad cut.
The newspaper doesn't dull the katana any more than cutting tatami. Its nice when you have no tatami and don't want to or can't spend any more money on tatami.
Thanks, I think I'm going to do more "practical" cuts in future videos. Its one thing to stand still and cut. Its another to be able to move around the target as though in combat.
How do you prepare newspaper for cutting? Just roll and soak? And doesn't that dull the blade quick?
