Oh mama, ride that stride.

It's so wonderful to remember a favorite piece of music from years ago and there it is on youtube. Loved this song for more than forty years now.

This is one of the last of the famous 24xxx series, where RCA Victor tried to issue real HiFi records with a tone range that far extended what 'normal' gramophones could cope with. It took another 15 years before affordable home equipment could cope with this.

This song, from the film "Gay Divorcee," reached #10 for Fats over a five wek run in October-November 1934 as Victor 24714.

Never fails to turn my frown upside down, turn it to a smile and make me sing "la le la le la le la le zing zing zing!"
I just wish I was born in that era though, "popular" music today is just terrible and the decent music that does exist is hidden in dark tunnels that you have to search through endlessly to get something you like. I'm just glad a friend of mine recommended Fats Waller to me, such a legendary man with extraordinary talent!
