@whalingo oh jesus, the per capita is a skewed index and i'm pretty sure you know this. take CO2 emissions recorded per km, australia is 29th, while USA, china and japan are all in the top 5? skewed. And no, china are the "worst polluters" if you can even just use a blanket term like that.
Look man, you're not actually even trying to defend whaling or japan. You're just bagging australia (which i know isn't perfect) about hundreds of years history,so unless you got something real, i'm done here

@furlerAU
Australia holds the world record for mammal extinctions!!
Australia is the largest percapita emitter of greenhouse gases. Australians are the world' worst polluteeers.
More than 70 % of forest in Australia has already been destroyed. Many mammals are in danger of extinction now.

@whalingo Yes these species are threatened, which is why they're protected by law. Another ENDANGERED animal that comes to mind is the humpback whale. early whaling has left on 5-10% of these animals left in the world.. So what does japan do when faced with this? Why, they of course lobby to end the ban on commercial whaling, and increase their allowence of humpback kills..

@whalingo haha i haven't seen that ad before but i'd support it. after all, being harpooned and dying while bleeding out is a slow and painful death, and that's something not even you can try to deny

@whalingo Oh wait, my mistake. Japan has a very long and bloody history. And to say Australia doesn't learn from history..
Well.. All I can say is we're not the ones still hunting endangered animals in such barbaric ways. Oh and then when the whaling season is off, they're trying to get laws changed so they can kill MORE endangered species each season. YOU need to look back into history, and SEE the effects of whaling, then maybe think about the future too

@whalingo Ok now I'm genuinely confused. Because Australia was founded as a penal colony, and the Europeans treated the indigenous population poorly, whaling is ok? Also, not sure if you've looked into this to know that the Australian government has actually been reconciling with Aborigines for about 40 years now. We're the first to admit what happened was wrong. And plus, Japan has never had any history with forcefully invading other countries and murdering the native population have they?
