A visual introduction to the first Indo-Iranians, the Andronovo culture, with anthropological reconstructions of Andronovo faces. Their facial type was found to be related to that of the Yamna culture, but it had a somewhat shorter head (average cephalic index 77,5 - compared to an average CI of 75,8 for contemporary Yamna skulls), a more prognating chin, and often a square cromagnoid jaw. In late Andronovo this was sometimes accompanied by a slightly flattened midface. All these traits would be inherited especially by the Sarmatians (average CI 77,3).
