Here, a mostly uncut version of Oya, which was choreographed as a moving homage to the power of water and wind in our Crescent City.

Approximately nine months after it was choreographed and about six months after it was debuted, Hurricane Katrina washed away our dance company and whisked away many of us to various corners of the country for nearly three months.

We're back in New Orleans now, and dancing again. Visit our website: www.nomadictribal.com

-------------------
This choreography was originally debuted at the New Orleans' Contemporary Arts Center's DramaRama 12.

Thanks to all the members of n.o.madic tribal dance company who made this production possible.

  • thanks for all the sweet comments ladies! I'm just coming back to this video after posting it months ago, and what a nice treat to see your words.

(but my apologies about the sound quality...i don't know what happened during the upload; it doesn't sound so tinny and loud on my copy).

    love.

  • Hello Ladies,

Thanks so much----I particularly enjoy your lovely formation work. I'm glad to hear that your company has been reunited again in New Orleand. Take care and best wishes to you all, wendy

  • You ladies are an inspiration to the rest of us dancers. No matter the destruction of your homes, you kept dancing, and are back home again!! When I get whiny about not wanting to dance because I'm tired or have something else I want to do, I'm going to think of YOU!

    With great love and respect,

    Maryam

  • my Gawd... I had chills the whole time I watched this. There was passion oozing out of it the likes I've never seen before now.

Thank you for putting this up.
