Meditation is a universal thing irrespective of religion.
If references to a practice are in ancient texts they are going to refer to it.
Their paranoia comes from the fact that a concept comes from outside their religion.

yoga is supreme, it is a science and way better than all the religions of the world...though it roots are in hinduism, it can be followed by anyone.. And Caste system has nothing to do with yoga ...this guy is talking bullshit...Caste system was introduced by Aryans (warrior group) 3000 years back. Yoga can be practiced by anyone....

so basically you have to sit and breath a certain way in order to achieve salvation with Jesus , that kind of sounds like alot like Yoga to me.

I have been on anti-depressants since I was 14, and on the advice of a friend turned to God to help. It didnt. I came off anti-depressants and had to go back on them again after a serious overdose - God didnt work. At the age of 20 I started going to the Gym and Changed my Diet. That was January 2008 and Im now down to one anti-depressant a week. I told this friend I was going to take up Yoga and she accused it of being part of the occult. But Science has shown that ot does reduce stress.

All eastern meditations teaches the practitioner's to loose free will and let the 'energy flow' at some point of time. God made us with free will for discernment. There is no need to sideline free will (or make the mind go blank) and accept teachings that claim peace, calmness, unity in self, oneness with nature etc. yoga / martial arts teach about the 'chi' and this is not being Christ-centered.
