June Anderson - Je Suis Titania

In september 1991 the Metropolitan Opera celebrated it's 25th anniversary at Lincoln Center by performing three different acts from a selection of popular Met productions. In the final act (act II of Die Fledermaus) there were some special guest performances by highly renowned opera stars.

One of the guests was June Anderson. She sung "Je Suis Titania" from Ambroise Thomas' opera "Mignon".
James Levine is conducting.

The idea behind these clips was to provide a High Quality version of these aria's on YouTube. Unfortunately the YT encoding creates an artificial noise in the peaks. I hope you still can enjoy this. The Source for this video was a DG laserdisc.
The release on DVD is planned on May 3rd 2010.

Yeah it's spelled grammophon... Who can spell that without an error?

  • @chaiter1 JA,JA...LA SUTHERLAND NO LE LLEGA NI A LOS TALONES A JUNE ANDERSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You know who she reminds by look and voice? Yes, this is as close you get to resemblance to Joan Sutherland....and I mean it in a good way.

  • BRAVA, BRAVA Y BRAVA DE NUEVO. Excelente, realmente increible.

  • I was at this opening night..and it was indeed performed on the Fledermaus set..as the third act of the gala concert was the 2nd act of Fledermaus (slightly cut) with all of the "special artists" appearing in the sequence shown.

First 2 acts of the gala were the final act of Rigoletto w Studer, Nucci and Pavarotti..while the 2nd act of the gala was Act III of Otello with Domingo and Freni.

Pavarotti and Freni also teamed up at the end of the gala sequence to sing Mimi piu non torni

  • @pataxinha

No it isn't. It's from "Mignon" but it was performed in the set of the Fledermaus as a guest performance to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Met at Lincoln Center.

  • BRAAAAAAAAVAAAAAAAAAA!!!
