"Absofunkinlutely" played by Amy Briggs

A performance of David Rakowski's 68th piano étude (a funk étude) during a recording session at the American Academy of Arts and Letters, New York City, on a gorgeous, gorgeous Steinway piano, June 4, 2008. The idea for the étude came from Rick Moody. Recorded on a Flip Video Ultra (which obviously has issues with a well-lighted area in a dark space) with sound layered in from a couple of very nice and expensive microphones. Rakowski's piano études are copyright © by CF Peters.

This étude is track 24 of Études Volume 3 to be released by Bridge Records in October, 2009.

Gee , I almost didn't come but I am glad I did . The Rakowski was recommended but I had to write a letter and forgot about it. When I did link on I was afraid I was going to get something "Funkaholic".This is beautiful and now I will keep an eye out for Amy Briggs and her fine work,another brilliant door opened . Blow your soul, Amy !
