Socks

Late Show with David Letterman January 19th, 2009.
I told Dave that I am often inspired by him to wear light-colored socks, but my question to Mr. Letterman was whether he has a philosophy or superstition behind wearing light colored socks with dark suits. His answer, before the show, was that someone once gave him 1,000 pairs of beige socks as a gift, and he is just trying to wear them all in. I guess making fun of me is more entertaining than answering my actual question!
