Howard Zinn, the American writer and teacher who died Jan. 28, was critical of the establishment in all forms - whether it be on Wall Street or in Washington. He felt that the social contract between government and the people was not being upheld, and he felt it was his job to remind us of that on a regular basis.

  • The world lost a great American hero and Bernanke was just comfirmed for a second term at the FED. MAN we are fucked!

  • It depends on one's definition of "slave", I suppose, but there are some americans who are not slaves, by my definition, because they are not participating in the "system", they are not indebted to the credit card companies, or the motgage companies, their days are their own, all 365.

  • @ednoisin Jews are white...

  • @ednoisin,

"America wants you to remain pacified by focusing on the equality of the nature of these madmen rather than on the potential consequences of their madness."

If you mean the government, they are mostly pro-Zinn. "A People's History" is required reading in lots of classes in the US.

From a practical, though not moral perspective, I can see how you could see the man with the bomb as the worst. However, the US also does much good. Total depravity must be considered.

  • @ednoisin,

That's a good argument against acting directly against someone who is technologically sophisticated, but it doesn't decide morality. If we preemptively attack Iran or North Korea, both countries that may very well be prepared to use nuclear weapons against us, would it be moral to attack Iran or North Korea? However, the science behind nuclear power has done a lot of good too and the atomic bomb stopped Japanese genocides.

  • @TheFlanker35, please, ponder on the following. There were three mad men; exact clones of each other. The only difference between the three was the weapon they each carried. One carried a tooth pick, the other a grenade, and the last a radio controlled device to detonate a nuclear bomb. America wants you to remain pacified by focusing on the equality of the nature of these madmen rather than on the potential consequences of their madness. Much given;much required. Blessings, Peace & Shalom,

  • @ednoisin,

Slavery was wrong because it was degrading to a human being, not only because masters could mistreat their slaves. Most, at least many, slave owners weren't hateful people; they just viewed slaves as inferior. Read Fountain Hughes' account. In Africa, slaves were sometimes eaten by their masters in the Ndongo Kingdom. You ever wonder how the Great Zimbabwe was built? I don't know for certain, but I would guess that they used slavery.

Why are we the most demonic of all?

  • @TheFlanker35, Anthony Johnson was an indentured servant who, subsequent to his freedom, owned ONE African slave to work in His tobacco farm. Rest assured that He did not mistreat His slave like the rest of those european colonial murderes mistreated their slaves. Also, learn the parable of the "faithful steward" in Luke 12:41-48; "...to whom much has been given, much will be required." America has been blessed beyond measures but yet remains the most demonic of all. Blessings & Shalom,

  • @ednoisin,

I'm not defending crimes but praising good works. We fight in our own defense and sometimes make mistakes. Even your Bible says "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10

So obviously everyone in history has done some bad things but that is no reason to get rid of the good things they did. White Americans ended open slavery. Black america started slavery as Anthony Johnson was the first slave-owner in the colonies that became the US.

  • @ednoisin, Howard Zinn is not white but a "jew" passing for white. Nevertheless, he is an individual paying attention to voice of his conscience. Shalom,

  • @TheFlanker35, spare Me the usual rhetoric from white america in defending their sordid past of crimes against humanity; america has been indulging in the banquets of sin, and has, and continues to cast stones, napalm bombs, assisinations and etc. on whom ever they please for any given reason. With that comparison in mind, I am delighted & honored to cast the first stone (called wormwood) on what this demonic nation represents. Be Blessed, Peace & Shalom,

  • @ednoisin,

Most slave owners in the world today are black. When freed slaves went to Liberia, the first thing they accomplished was the enslavement of the native population. White america created a country so good that most freed slaves didn't want to leave.

A black African, Anthony Johnson, introduced slave-owning to America.

"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." John 8:7
