I also decided to update my sci-fi video and add it some other novels and authors since i realize the last one didn´t made quite justice to the genre, because i only used the classics so... i believe this is more complete if you will.

  • Clockwork Orange is not sci fi is it ? Anyway I also love sci fi books! Dune rullz!

  • It is consider as science fiction due to the use of ficticious scientific techniques in it. A dystopian novel is always listed as part of the sci-fi genre.

I have not read the Dune books but i will. Many people have talk wonders about it and i´m very much looking forward to read them.

A very respectable sci-fi list. As someone who also takes sci-fi seriously, I appreciate that you didn't include a bunch of fantasy or vampire novels and pass them off as sci-fi. Gustav Holst was a nice touch too

  • @kosherporkface: Thank you. Science fiction should be taken more seriously.

Fantasy and the vampire sub-genre are not really my cup of tea. Anyway, looking at this list almost a year and a half later, i see a lot of flaws in it. For instance, i left out Philp K. Dick, Ursula K. Le Guin, more books by Isaac Asimov and Stanislaw Lem (one of my favorite books that i`ve recently read is The Investigation , that many people don`t seem to like but i loved it). Anyway, glad you liked it.

  • Now we are talking. Excellent. And also the music. Holst is always a good choice for a dark, martial mood. And nice you also included Fahrenheit 451.

  • Nice list--I've read most of those. I will just say that for a good old-fashioned sci-fi adventure, you won't find any better than Edgar Rice Burroughs' John Carter of Mars (Barsoom) series. I read all 11 books back in the early 80s--so much fun. If somehow you haven't read them, give them a look.

  • Oh come on! No authors except those that are OLD and dead? For goodness sake all of the books mentioned here pale in comparison to David Webers Honor Harrington series. Oh and you didnt even mention the Dune books. I think you need to expend your reading list.

  • Gotta read some Iain M Banks if you haven't already. One of his "Culture" novels.

  • @makidtrej The dune books are awesome...The Fremen kick ass.

  • I have written a massively epic Sci fi story that will be availible on Amazon in early 2011. If you like these books, I guarantee that you'd love mine. Subscribe to me if you'd like to stay connected.
